PipeCD: One Continuous Delivery for Every Platform
Shriira Press
PipeCD is a GitOps-style continuous delivery platform that gives you one consistent way to deploy and operate applications across Kubernetes, Terraform, Cloud Run, Lambda, and ECS.
Welcome to PipeCD: One Continuous Delivery for Every Platform.
Most teams do not ship to a single kind of target. A product is a Kubernetes service here, a Cloud Run job there, an ECS task and a Lambda function elsewhere, all sitting on infrastructure managed by Terraform. Each of those usually comes with its own deployment tool, its own way to do a canary, and its own idea of what "rolled back" means. PipeCD, a Cloud Native Computing Foundation sandbox project, was built to collapse that sprawl into one experience: deployment pipelines declared in Git, progressive delivery with canary and blue-green strategies, automated analysis that watches your metrics and rolls back on its own, and drift detection that tells you when reality has wandered away from what you committed. This book walks from the problem PipeCD solves through its GitOps model, its control-plane-and-agent architecture, the anatomy of a deployment pipeline, progressive delivery, automated analysis, drift detection and event-driven workflows, and finally how to install, secure, and operate it well. By the end you will understand not just what each feature does but why the pieces fit together the way they do.
