K8sGPT: AI-Powered Kubernetes Diagnostics

Shriira Press

Preface

Kubernetes is powerful but unforgiving — K8sGPT scans your cluster, finds what's broken, and explains it in plain English with the help of AI.

Welcome to K8sGPT: AI-Powered Kubernetes Diagnostics.

K8sGPT is a CNCF project that gives Kubernetes troubleshooting superpowers to everyone. It scans a cluster with a set of built-in analyzers that encode the knowledge an experienced site reliability engineer brings to a failing pod, a broken service, or a misconfigured ingress, and then it can hand each finding to an AI backend that explains the problem and suggests a fix in clear language. This book starts with the everyday pain of debugging Kubernetes and what K8sGPT does about it, then works through the analyzers that find problems, the AI backends that explain them, and the anonymization that keeps cluster data private. From there it covers the command-line tool you run from a laptop, the in-cluster operator and its K8sGPT custom resource that turn diagnostics into a continuous service, the integrations and caching that round out the system, and finally how teams put K8sGPT to work in practice. By the end you'll understand both how it works and where it fits in the cloud-native world.
