Serverless computing promised that we would stop thinking about servers and start thinking about code, yet the day-to-day reality often felt the opposite: every cloud had its own console, its own packaging rules, its own deployment dance, and moving an application from one provider to another meant rewriting the plumbing from scratch. Serverless Devs, the first serverless tool project accepted into the CNCF Sandbox, sets out to close that gap. It gives developers one command-line tool, the s CLI, and one declarative manifest, s.yaml, that together describe an application and drive it from local development through debugging, deployment, and operations across different cloud vendors. This book traces the whole picture. We begin with the problem Serverless Devs solves and where it sits in the cloud-native landscape, then study the application manifest field by field, the pluggable component model that does the real work, and the registry of reusable components and ready-made applications. From there we walk the developer workflow command by command, look at how environments and multiple clouds are handled, and close with the practices that make Serverless Devs reliable in production.
