Welcome to Piraeus Datastore: Replicated Block Storage for Kubernetes.

Piraeus Datastore is a CNCF sandbox project that brings fast, replicated, highly available block storage to Kubernetes by wrapping two mature Linux technologies — LINSTOR, a software-defined storage manager, and DRBD, a kernel-level replication layer — in a cloud-native package. The Piraeus Operator deploys and maintains the whole stack, a CSI driver provisions persistent volumes through the standard Kubernetes APIs, and a high-availability controller speeds failover when nodes go down. This book builds the picture from the ground up. The opening chapters explain the problem of stateful workloads on Kubernetes and the LINSTOR and DRBD machinery underneath. The middle chapters walk through the operator's architecture and its custom resources, then cover storage pools, storage classes, volume provisioning, and snapshots. The closing chapters dig into high availability and data locality before stepping back to see how Piraeus fits into a real cluster, where it sits in the cloud-native storage landscape, and how to operate it well.
