Telepresence: Fast Inner-Loop Development on Kubernetes
by Shriira Press
Telepresence is a CNCF sandbox project that collapses the slow edit-build-push-deploy cycle of Kubernetes development back to laptop speed. It connects your local machine to the cluster network so your code reaches in-cluster services by name, and it can intercept traffic bound for a remote service and reroute it to a local process — all of it, or just requests carrying your header. A traffic-manager and injected traffic-agents make this work. This book covers the inner-loop problem Telepresence solves, the daemon-and-manager architecture, cluster connectivity and DNS, global and personal intercepts, the environment and volumes that make a local process behave like a pod, team workflows with preview URLs, and operating it well in practice.
