KubeSlice: Multi-Cluster Application Slices for Kubernetes

KubeSlice, an open-source project from Avesha now in the CNCF Sandbox, solves a problem that grows sharper the moment one Kubernetes cluster is no longer enough: how do pods and services in different clusters, clouds, and edge sites talk to each other securely without rewiring everyone's networking by hand? Its answer is the slice — a flat, encrypted Layer 3 overlay network spanning a chosen set of namespaces across many clusters, so pods on it behave as if they shared one network while everything outside stays isolated. This book builds the whole system: the controller cluster and worker operators, the VPN slice gateways and Network Service Mesh data plane, namespace onboarding and isolation, cross-cluster service discovery, QoS, projects, and RBAC.
